Why are bags so important, and what can they tell about you?

Mayfair Black Deep Embossed Croc Print Handbag
Our clothes can say a lot about us – there is no point in denying this. No matter how much we want to try and be different, unique, but also smart and well-read, we are still human beings, and we judge, and are being judged, based on the looks, each and every day of our lives. Your clothes can say so much about you. Whether it is new, or old, tidy, messy, ironed or not, this can make you look like a professional or like a college student that is coming back from a party. You get the picture. One of the more important things that you probably always carry around is, you guessed it, your bag. Your purse, briefcase, or backpack primarily serve to carry things for you in a neat and orderly fashion, but they also have the property of describing you. The same way you pay attention to your hair, you ought to pay attention to the bag you carry.

The Importance of Bags?
We sometimes hear the word bagology, which is actually used to define the study of handbags in order to help people understand them better, their purpose, but also the meaning they carry. You might actually find this quite silly, or something no one thinks about; but is that really true? Big fashion companies actually use this in order to create a bag that is most suited for a particular group of people, that accommodates their needs, and their fashion style. The same way a backpack can tell that you are a laid-back person, someone who has a casual approach for most things; a briefcase can tell that you are in a hurry, and that you are someone who takes their work quite seriously.

Naturally, all this can be used to improve your appearance, and you can actually convey the look you want others to perceive simply by adjusting your appearance. For girls, a clutch bag can say that she is someone who takes great pride in her looks. Messenger bags border between practicality and appearance, and can serve both purposes, depending on what kind of the material you choose, the size and the rest of your clothes.

Why Pay a Lot for a Bag?
Bags are your extension, and can describe your social, economic, and even fashion status. It is a highly visible accessory, and because of this, a whole fashion industry revolves around bags primarily. You have probably heard about Louis Vuitton bags, and how important these are to some people. They are sought after by doctors, professors, by CEOs, and even by simple folks that obviously cannot afford them. They are a status, and people have always wanted the quickest way of climbing up the social ladder, one way or another.

Celebrities use them to display their status, either because they use them to advertise a certain brand, or simply because they are a great accessory – either way, they send a strong message, especially in this day and age when everything is analysed on the red carpet. When we look at fashion capitals of the world, such as New York, or Paris, we can see that the most expensive stores are actually those dedicated to bags, where prices range from expensive to paying a small fortune. A bag can easily destroy, or create a fashion image.
Is It Worth Buying a Fake Bag?

The simplest, and the best answer is – no. Many women do not distinguish between real and fake ones, but you can easily notice the difference when you look at the price tags. Furthermore, the bag is a personal statement, meaning that it is a choice, and because of this, it is much better to buy a nice bag that you can afford, than a replica of something that is beyond your price range. It will be much worse if you get discovered for trying to pass a fake for an original, than simply admitting that you cannot afford this season’s Birkin. The best way of choosing a bag is by being yourself, which is actually an advice that can be applied to every aspect of your life, and the more you embrace it, the better you will feel.

Leather Bag Cleaning Hacks You Need in Your Life

 Handbags

When you've invested a lot of money in a Leather bag, making sure it's a forever item is a must. But taking care of leather goods can be tricky and when they are ones you seriously care about, so much more is a stake.
The place to start, Always protect your Leather bag with a reputable protection cream/treatment, this should be done from day one and applied at least once every two to three months.
Proper protection can prevent staining, grease penetration and can prevent all manner of issues later on.
As well as protecting, regular cleaning, even if it is just a quick wipe down is a must. For a quick wipe down, a damp cloth is enough, but typically Leather bags will need a more thorough clean by a professional or using specialist cleaning products every 2-3 months to keep them in top condition.
1. Wipe your Leather bag once a week with warm, soapy water... mix a small amount of mild liquid soap to warm water and use a soft damp cloth to wipe away any dirt from the outside of your handbag.
2. Wipe with the grain of the Leather Bag... to avoid ruining the leather
3. Never use baby wipes, vinegar or any other 'home remedy' for cleaning or stain removal, many of these products have chemicals and substances in them that can cause damage to the colour, dry the leather out, create a build up of grease in the leather and any number of other problems.
4. The key to removing ink marks is to treat them straight away... your first and best bet is to take your Leather bag to see a professional as soon as possible. If you're unable to, try a special ink removing product for leather and follow the care instructions, making sure to condition the area afterwards and leave to dry properly.
5. If the ink stains are old... don't try to remove these yourself. They will likely be too stubborn and will need professional care.
6. Keep your Leather bag stuffed while you're not using it... to help keep its shape better
7. Never use water on grease stains... these should simply wipe off leather surfaces.
8. Use a professional leather cleaning agent on tougher dirt... these creams don't need to be rinsed out which can damage your bag further. They might cost more, but the result will be so much more affective.
9. When cleaning always use a product designed for use on the material, a general leather cleaner will not be as effective on a suede or nubuck interior than a cleaner specifically designed for suede & nubuck for example (due to the absorbent, fibrous nature of the material).
10. Always spot-test a cleaning method before you use it... preferably somewhere on the inside of the bag that can't be seen by prying eyes.
11. Avoid holding your Leather Bag if you've just applied hand cream... or you're just ASKING for grease stains.
12. If your tote came with a dust bag... use it. These aren't just for pretty packaging - they are intended to keep your Leather bags dust-free when they're not being used.
13. Dry Cleaners top tip: "If you don't have a dust bag an old pillowcase will do!"
14. Consider buying Stain Cover just in case your bag gets messy.
15. Don't leave your Leather Bag in direct sunlight... it can cause the colour to fade and damage the leather.
16. Don't wear light colour Leather Bags with dark clothing as the dye from the clothing may run and transfer to the Leather Bag damaging the colour - one of the hardest stains to remove.
17. For really stubborn stains... try matching a shoe polish to the colour of your Leather Bag and buffing a small amount over the affected area.
18. Do not use saddle soap... it'll most likely be too strong for the leather on your bag and could cause discolouring.
19. If you do get a nasty smell odour removers can be used (choose the right one for the type of substance causing the smell), but avoid the use of harsh solvent based or aerosol odour removers, they can damage the colour of the Leather Bag and even cause damage to the leather itself in some cases.
20. To banish ever-lingering smells... put an open container of baking powder carefully inside your Leather Bag, place your bag into a dust bag or pillow case and leave for 24 hours. The baking powder should absorb any unwanted odours.
